Each photo submitted by the deadline will be judged by a pre-selected panel of judges. Only the pet’s photo, a registration number and the pet’s name are visible to the judges. Within a predetermined deadline, judges provide a “cute” score (1 to 5, 5 being cutest) to each photo. The scores provided by each judge are then added together for each pet to provide a total score. The five pets in the category (Dog, Cat, or Exotic) with the highest total scores will move on to the next round. Photos will be uploaded to the HealthyAnimals.org pet contest page for a public vote and this vote will determine the “Cutest Pet on Capitol Hill” in each category.
Photos of top five finalists of each Pet Party (Dog, Cat, Exotic) will be uploaded to HealthyAnimals.org. Fans of the page will be able to vote on their favorite finalists starting at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 17, 2015 until 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 24, 2015. The pet in each party that receives the highest number of votes will win for its selected category.
For the 2015 contest, we will announce the winners during the first 15 minutes of the Pet Night on Capitol Hill reception on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Additional announcements will also be shared on Facebook, Twitter, and on this site.
By submitting a photo, you grant us permission to post the image and pet’s name on social media sites, and if a winner, your name and office. Image may be edited to fit in promotional material and/or on posters.
