Hollywood actors visit Capitol Hill to bring attention to pet causes. So can’t Hollywood pets just visit Capitol Hill?
The dog that played cartoon favorite Marmaduke in the 2010 live-action “Marmaduke” film and the cat known as Mr. Jinx from “The Little Fockers” did just that on Tuesday, acting as the main attractions at the Animal Health Institute’s 13th Annual Celebrity Pet Night. The reception aimed to raise awareness about the possibility that even lovable, domesticated pets can carry and transmit dangerous illnesses.
Along with the big-screen pets, a pawful of congressional canines were on hand in the Cannon Caucus Room, and photos of members’ cats and dogs graced the space. Reps. Jared Polis, Phil Roe, Robert Aderholt, Shelley Berkley, Ralph Hall, Linda Sanchez and Ken Calvert mingled about, nibbling on dog-shaped cookies.
